South India is the Treasure House of various temples and among them is the famous 'Vasavi Temple'. The Vasavi Temple is considered as one of the greatest shrine located in the heart of Bangalore city in the 8th cross, Malleswaram. Malleswaram Arya Vysya Sangha [MAVS] was formed in the year 1927, during which only nine inhabitants of Vysya community resided in Malleswaram. In 1929, the community owned a plot of       140x 160 from City Improvement Trust board to construct the holy Temple. Gradually, In the year 1934, Idols comprising of Vasavi Kanyaka Parameshwari, Sri Satyanarayana Swamy, Lord Ganesha and the Navagrahas were brought and worshiped. After the sustained development of the Temple, it was inaugurated. From the year of formation till 1993, the Vasavi Temple and MAVS were popularly known as “Temple and Spiritual organisation”. From then, MAVS is no more a small spiritual organisation but is among the outstanding temple organizations in south India which performs not only rituals but also conducts spiritual, philosophical, medical, educational, social, cultural and Philanthropic activities in an exemplary manner.

To add another feather to the cap, in the year 2002, MAVS constructed Sri Srikanteshwara Swamy Temple, placed Siva Lingam and Nithya Abhisheka Lingam and were inaugurated in the temple premises. Sevas and poojas in this temple is now organised and conducted by Veda Bramha Sri Suresha Shrama and his team.

Thousands of people visit the temple every day and seek goddess Vasavi’s blessings.

The temple witnessed eminent personalities due to its holiness and purity. Among them was none other than “The father of the nation”, Mahatma Gandhi. Also dignitaries were many chief ministers, Union ministers, music maestros, Sri S P Balasubramanyam, late Kunnukudi Vaidyanathan for naming a few. Spiritual leaders Sri Sri Ravishankar, Adichunchunagiri swamiji, and swamijis of Shankar Mutt ,Sringeri and many others. With great devotion and love devotees from every corner offered silver, Golden Kavacham & Crown, Silver parrots and many valuable ornaments to goddess

 

Malleswaram is one of the prominent cultural Hub of Karnataka and is well known for scintillating celebrations of all traditions and cultures of the society. Vasavi Temple is one which promises to maintain and protect all traditions and cultures.Vasavi temple management celebrates all Hindu festivals like Ugadi, Sri Ramanavami,Sri Krishna Janmastami,Sankranthi,Mahashivaratri,Vasavi Jayanthi,Dasara, Diwali,Vasavi Atmarpana Day etc and temple will be well decorated with special flowers,thoranas and Special decorations,Poojas and Sevas including Sangeetha Seva's are performed in all temples of Vasavi temple complex. Further, Nithya Archana Sahasranama, Abhisheka Sevas to all idols in the complex, Managament & Archaka Brundam perfoming Nithya Go-Pooja (worshipping Holy Cow).

Beauty of goddess Vasavi’s idol is magnified with special decorations suiting each occasion by pradhana Archaka ‘Veda Bramha’ Sri Nagaraj shastry & his dedicated team of purohits. Special aesthetic decorations are flaunted on festivals like Vasavi jayanthi, ugadi, sankrathi, navarathri, vasavi agnipravesha day.

Goddess Vasavi is worshipped by lakhs people irrespective of what community they belong to and has been abundantly showering boons and fulfilling the desires of devotees.
